About Us

The site which Marian Resort and Spa sits at was first founded as a holiday camp for children in 1909, where Arthur Lee, of the Stanley Road Tapestry Works in Birkenhead, founded a childrens holiday camp for the people of Merseyside, aptly named the Merseyside Children’s Holiday Camp. The site was also used briefly to house Belgian refugees during the first world war.  Over the years, the site which began with just a few tepee’s and small buildings developed into a fully fledged holiday camp with dining rooms playgrounds and more. And it was also used by the Liverpool City Mission charity for many years too.

After 75 years, the Merseyside Holiday Camp was closed, and became Graig Park Hotel & Country Club, and later, Dyserth Falls Resort. After many years, the once great site of holidays came into disrepair and the landmark resort went into liquidation, closing it’s doors to holiday makers in 2019, 110 years after it’s inception.

By December 2019 the site, had changed hands and was bought by Lyons Holiday Parks. Locally based Directors Joseph and Geoff Lyons Mound planned to change the fortunes of the once landmark site, and being born and raised locally, were even more determined to bring the resort back to it’s former glory. The site was renamed the Marian Resort and Spa, a nod to Dyserths history of milling and holidays. The remnants of Marian Mills can still be seen today, with the hope of Felin Fawr and spokes of the wheel being visible as you walk up alongside the River Ffydion. Nearby to the Marian Mills was once a cottage named Marianville, that tourists would frequent on their stays in North Wales, to savour the culinary delights of Mrs Rogers’ tea rooms.

And after many years of restoration, building work, interior design and more, the site opened it’s doors to customers, with Interim Heavyweight UFC champion Tom Aspinall opening the venue in  March 2024.
